MARON, Walter

Paw Paw

Passed away Friday, July 11, 2003 at Dowagiac Nursing Home. Walter was born July 6, 1913 in Myslow, Poland the son of Thomas and Josephine (Bluzniewicz) Maron. Walter was inducted into the Polish Army in 1934 and with the Nazi invasion became a POW from 1939-1945. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Paw Paw since 1951 and a member of the Polish National Alliance. In 1947 in Poland Walter was united in marriage to the former Mary Skalska who preceded him in death in 1971 He was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Shyane Taylor-Johnson in 1998. In 1983 in St. Joseph, MI Walter was united in marriage to the former Lena Paustian who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Lottie (Michael) Janowicz of Mattawan; son Marion (Susan) Maron of Elkhart, IN; 4 grandchildren, Iris Marie (Kevin) Maat, Sherise Anne (Creg) Johnson, Joshua Maron and Heather (Paul) Shelley; 5 great-grandchildren, Alexis Johnson-Slocum, Rachel Maat, Ariel Maat, Holden Shelley and Ashton Shelley. Friends are being received Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 pm with a vigil service at 7:30 pm at the ADAMS Funeral Home, Paw Paw. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday 11 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Robert F. Creagan Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
