Passed away Thursday morning, July 24, 2003 at his home. Charles was born December 29, 1921 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Charles Wilson and Marion (Atkeson) Means. Charles was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. He was a graduate of Michigan State U. with a degree in Chemical Engineer and was employed by the Upjohn Company in Kalamazoo retiring in 1980. He received the Upjohn Award for building the Linzomycin Plant in Kalamazoo. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Key Largo, Fl and a member of the A.A.R.P. In August of 1970, Charles was united in marriage to the former Wilma Arnold Underwood who survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters, Janet (John) Korr of Traverse City, MI, Linda (Ken) Priest of Okemos, MI and Margaret Bill) Gray of Vicksburg, MI; 2 sons, David Underwood of Paw Paw and Michael Underwood of Kalamazoo; 8 grandchildren; niece, Carolyn Parker of CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Constance Means. There will be no visitation or services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may directed to the family. Arrangements are by the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.

My sympathy to the Means family at this sad time. Especially to his daughter Linda who was a very good friend, and I thought of many times over the years. I hope you are doing well.
