Passed away Friday afternoon, August 15, 2003. Les was born July 11, 1934 in Lawrence, MI the son of the late Riley J. and Marvil L. (Ruple) Utter. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Les was employed by Consumers Power Company, and after his retirement he was employed by Hansen’s Green House and was a custodian at Trinity Lutheran Church Paw Paw of which he was a member. On July 16, 1957 in Lawrence, Les was united in marriage to the former Barbara L. Jacobs who preceded him in death on March 23, 2003. Les was also preceded in death by a sister, Alice Long and a brother, Clarence Utter. Surviving are 3 daughters, Peggy Louise Scarborough of Escondido, CA, Lori Ann (Stanley) Wills of Lawrence and Lynn Marie (Jay) Kowalkowski of Lawton; son Leslie David Utter of Paw Paw; 15 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Patricia (Leo) Stillwell of Dowagiac, Jean (Bob) Hafer of Manistee, and Mary Garland of Florida; 3 brothers, Max Utter of Montana, John (Mary) Utter of Lawrence, and Mike (Gerri) Utter of Kalkaska; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Tuesday 5-8 p.m. at the ADAMS Funeral Home, Paw Paw and Wednesday 10 to 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Paw Paw with the service at 11 a.m. with Rev. C. William Weis officiating. Interment of Cremains will be in Wildey Cemetery, Paw Paw. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
