Passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 21, 2003 at his son’s home in Paw Paw. Jim was born August 28, 1916 in Cotton Plant, MS the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Medford) Britt Sr. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He moved to Lawton in 1957 and was employed at McCord Corp. as a sales representative for 30 years and received several sales awards for his achievements. He was a member of the Mason Lodge in Decatur, Alabama. On June 10, 1942 in Belmont, MS, Jim was united in marriage to the former B. Inez Harris who preceded him in death on June 21, 1995. Beside his parents, a daughter, Beverly Britt, a sister, Ozella Mills and 3 brothers, Edgar, Newton and T.L. Britt preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, James W. “Bill” (Linda) Britt Jr. of Paw Paw; 2 grandchildren, William “Travis” Britt and Ashley Britt of Paw Paw; great grandson, Erin Zirkle-Britt of Paw Paw; sister, Lucille Gentry of Charleston, NC; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where funeral services will be held Wednesday 11 a.m. with Jay Tyler officiating. Interment will be in Cuddeback Cemetery, Paw Paw with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Borgess Visiting Nurse/Hospice, Lung Association or Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation.
