Passed away Monday morning, September 22, 2003 at White Oaks in Lawton. Gene was born April 8, 1918 in East Chicago, IN the son of the late Lawrence and Antoinette (Wawrzyniak) Rogowski. Gene was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was employed at KVP Paper Company in quality control retiring in June of 1980. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Paw Paw, the Knights of Columbus Council # 3798, Paw Paw and the American Legion, McGowan-Johnson Post # 68, Paw Paw. On December 27, 1943 in Paw Paw, Gene was united in marriage to the former Helen Ann Duhan who preceded him in death on May 11, 1999. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Rogowski. Surviving are 2 daughters, Sandy (Terry) Treat of Rochester Hills, MI and Kathy Gumper of Mattawan; son, Larry (Sharon) Rogowski of Byran Center, MI; 8 grandchildren, Kim (John) Saunders, Michael Treat, Nicole Treat, Rachelle (Steve) Antcliff, Kris (Todd) Bialas, Lucas Gumper, Zachary Gumper and Katelyn Gumper; great grandchildren, Bradley and Ryan Antcliff, Brendan Saunders and Camden Bialas; 2 sisters, Helen Jelenski of East Chicago and Wanda Kobe of Paw Paw; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the ADAMS Funeral Home, Paw Paw where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Paw Paw with Rev. Fr. Bob Flickinger celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to Maple City Veterans Memorial Park, Hospice of Van Buren County or St. Mary’s Church.

Larry, I watched the tender loving care you gave your father at White Oaks. I'm sure your regular after-school visits were very important in his life. I'm glad Gene was able to play in the "band" at the picnic. I send you and your family my thoughts and prayers.
