Adored wife of the late Reverend Joseph C. Filonowicz, beloved mother of Joseph Duke (Martha) Filonowicz, George Jay (Andrea) Filonowicz and Janice Joy (Stephen) Petersen, and dear grandmother of Martha, Joseph Victor and Nicholas Filonowicz and Lucas and Theodore Petersen. Also survived by her sister, Helene Brough of Ojai, California, and many nieces and nephews. Born in Cleveland to renowned urban architect George A. Ebeling and admired civil rights advocate Maude Cox Ebeling, “Marty” would earn her degree in clinical psychology from Hillsdale College in 1947, and nurture enduring friendships with her Kappa Kappa Gamma sisters. Continuing her studies in early childhood education with Ross and Martha Snyder of the University of Chicago, Marty went on to found a nursery school in the First Congregational Church of Hudson, Michigan, which flourishes in the present day. Her lifelong love of great music and supreme devotion to her family continue to inspire her descendants and many devoted friends. There will be no visitation or services.
