Passed away Thursday morning, October 16, 2003 at LakeView Continuing Care Center, Lawton, where she had been a resident since 1992. Helen was born August 28, 1915 in Lawton, MI the daughter of the late Harlow and Mary Ellen (Stuck) Cross and was a life long area resident. She was a 1934 graduate of Paw Paw High School. She was a homemaker and an avid craft maker of paintings, ceramic and sewing projects. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Lawton, the Sunshine Club and the N.C.H.A. On November 6, 1934 in Lawton, Helen was united in marriage to Edward Bowman who preceded her in death on April 9, 1990. She was also preceded in death by three bothers, Harry, Frank and Richard Cross and a sister, Vivian Haney. Surviving are a daughter, Marlene (Michael) Lake of Paw Paw; son, Edward (Joyce) Bowman of Niles, MI; six grandchildren, Karen (Duane) Lambert of Mattawan, Edward Bowman and Robert (Glenda) Bowman of Niles, JoAnn (Paul) Horvath of Osceola, IN, Michael Lake of Joanna, SC and Michelle Lake of Cross Hills, SC; six great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; sister, Virginia Schram of Kalamazoo, MI. Family will receive friends Sunday 4-6 p.m. at the ADAMS Funeral Home, Paw Paw, where funeral services will be held Monday, 11 a.m. with Rev. Ronald Brooks officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton. Memorial contributions may be made to LakeView Continuing Care Center resident activities fund.
