Passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 29, 2003 at his home. Jim was born January 30, 1950 in Paw Paw the son of Russell and Monica (Lathrop) Ortquist. He was a self employed builder and was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed gardening, farming and raising cattle. Surviving are his wife, Carol; son, James R. Ortquist, Jr. (Gail) of Mattawan; step-son, Peter (Jennifer) Craig of Mattawan, grandchildren, Nathan Kolkman and Matthew Craig of Mattawan; mother, Monica (Morry) VanZanten of Hesperia, MI; brother, Donald Ortquist of Twin Lakes, MI; 4 sisters, Donna Mulder of Livonia, Tina Vanderschaaf of Muskegon, Mary Nienhouse and Judy Johnson of Grand Haven; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Saturday 4-6 p.m. at the ADAMS Funeral Home, Paw Paw where funeral services will be held Sunday 3 p.m. with Rev. Buddy Turner officiating. Cremation to follow with inurnment of cremains in Cuddeback Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice Services, Kalamazoo.
