Passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at his home. Charles was born December 24, 1927 in Kalamazoo the son of Kenneth and Carrie (Tidd) Hawley. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army and was a life member of the Comstock V.F.W. Post # 6252. He was employed at Allied Paper, King Division for 17 years until it closed and then for Arvco Container Company until his retirement on Oct. 10, 1984. Charles was a member of the Center of Life Church, Paw Paw where he and his wife maintained the church and property. He loved motorcycles, fishing, camping and home life. On Dec. 10, 1961 in Kalamazoo, Charles was united in marriage to the former W. Virginia Haynes who survives. Also surviving are2 daughters, Sherry (Steve) Hamming of Hersey, MI and Ruth Goff of Mattawan; 2 sons, Phillip (Vickie) Haynes of Paw Paw and Charles (Linda) Hawley, Jr. of Gobles; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; 2 sisters, Norma (Charlie) Harger of Parchment and Mary Stafford of Brownsville TX; 2 brothers, Ed Hawley of Parchment and Don (Bev) Hawley of Richland; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Thursday, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Center Life Church, North M-40 Highway, Paw Paw were funeral services will be held Friday 11 a.m. with Pastor and close friend James R. Hatfield officiating. Entombment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery, Kalamazoo with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Arrangements are by the ADAMS Funeral Home, Paw Paw.
