Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday afternoon, February 10, 2004 at his home. Clare was born June 5, 1921 in Grandville, MI the son Ainsley Harold and Haddie (White) Edson. He was a veteran of World War II serving with Co. C, 119th Infantry in the European Theater. He was an electrician employed through Local #58, IBEW until his retirement. He also worked until July 2003 at the Kal Auto Auction in Schoolcraft which gave him great pleasure. However his greatest enjoyment was playing solitaire on his lap-top computer. Clare was a member of the American Legion, Post #0449, Elks Lodge #1234 and life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4012. On April 29, 1967 Clare was united in marriage to the former Joan French who preceded him in death in 1988. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Keith Edison of Scottsdale, AZ, and a sister Irene Ezinga of Grand Rapids, MI. Surviving are two sisters, Joyce Beurkens of Clearwater, FL and Esther VanHoven of Grand Rapids; four sons, Terry (Ginger) Edison of Brighton, Barry (Judy) Edison of Livonia, David Edison of Ventura, CA and David (Debby) Cole of Paw Paw; daughter, Sandra Sinnett of Marysville; 12 grandchildren, Scott, Dawn, Terry, Melissa, Barry, Kari, Erik, John, Candi, Sheri, Daniel and Nicholas; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Friday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where funeral services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. with Rev. C. William Weis of Trinity Lutheran Church, Paw Paw officiating. Cremation to follow with interment of cremains in River Lawn Cemetery, Marysville, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Van Buren County, the Humane Society or Paw Paw Elks Lodge #2511.
