Passed away Friday afternoon, May 14, 2004 at the home of her daughter. Jane a Canadian citizen was born January 25, 1913 in Birmingham, AL the daughter of the late Edward and Lillian (Dickson) Swift. Jane was a world traveler and a former member of the Alliance Francaise of Chicago. On August 8, 1941 in Toronto, Canada, Jane was united in marriage to Daniel J. O’Connell founder of the O’Connell Restaurants of Chicago who preceded her in death in 1972. Surviving are 2 daughters, Ann (John) Hill of Cassopolis, Mary Stary of Val des Irese, France; 2 sons, Patrick J. O’Connell of Chicago, IL and Michael D. (Cheryl) O’Connell of Toronto, Canada, grandchildren, Peter (Paula) Hill of Fayetteville, NC, Brooke O’Connell of Toronto, Canada, Chloe Stary and Dylan Stary both of Val des Irese, France; sister, Joan Pavey of Scarbourgh, Ontario, Canada.
There will be private family visitation only. Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Mary Church, Dowagiac with Rev. Fr. James McGrath celebrant. Interment will be in Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery, Dowagiac. Memorial contributions may be made to Cass/Van Buren County Hospice. Arrangements are by the ADAMS Funeral Home, Paw Paw.
