Passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at her home. Betty was born September 5, 1928 in Almena Township the daughter of late George and Della (Smith) Lanphear. Betty was employed by Welch Foods until her retirement on May 31, 1986. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit # 220, Lawton and the 8/40 La Boutique Des Huit Chapeaux Quarante Femmes, Kalamazoo. On August 7, 1946 in Lawton, MI Betty was united in marriage to Marcus “Red” Thornburg who preceded her in death on July 30, 2003. Besides her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Leonard and Lowell Lanphear; 2 sisters, Geneva Scobey and Mildred Jordan. Surviving are a daughter, Rose and Tom Fischer of Saginaw, 3 sons, Richard (Drenda) Thornburg of Paw Paw, Marcus “Lee” (Fiancé, Diane Williams)Thornburg of Paw Paw and Gerald “Jerry” (Fiancé, Beckie Rocha) Thornburg of Kalamazoo; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Beverly Warner of Mountain Home, Idaho; several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Van Buren County. Arrangements are by the ADAMS Funeral Home, Paw Paw.

Sorry about the recent loss of your mother.
Thing are doing well here in Dublin, I keep extermly busy at work more then I really like. The only Fishing is river type or pond. The nearest lake is an hour away. We do go out deep sea fishing several times a year.
Again Sorry to hear of your mothers passing.
