MURPHY, William O.

Passed away Friday, March 18, 2005 at home. Most recently residing in Paw Paw, MI, born in Pittsfield, MA, the son of William and Theresa (Oliver) Murphy. Husband of the late Doris (McNinch) Murphy, father of Janet (Ken) Hamblin of Marysville, MI, Michael Murphy of Aiken, SC, Maureen (Mark) Price of Columbus, OH, William (Ana) Murphy of San Diego, CA, Cathleen (Jeff Brown) Murphy of Paw Paw, MI, Dan (Chris) Murphy of Allegan, MI; 24 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Sheila (Walt) Nolbock; son, Patrick Murphy; brother Walter Murphy.

Bill was a talented pianist who played professionally throughout his long life, most recently at the Union Cabaret and Grill in Kalamazoo, MI. He recorded his first CD at the age of 90. He leaves a legacy of deep love, unfailing wit, grace and generosity, and was an inspiration and joy to all who knew him. A memorial service will be held on March 28th at 11 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 209 S. Brown St. Paw Paw, followed by a luncheon at the First Presbyterian Church 120 Pine St Paw Paw. In lieu of flowers contributions in his name may be made to Hospice of Van Buren County 310 E. Sherwood St. Decatur, MI 49045 would be appreciated. Dear Kathy and family, I'll never forget your Dad playing at the Grape Jam in Paw Paw. He was an amazing pianist. It was a pleasure to watch him entertain. We offer our condolences and are thinking of you all. Teresa and Roger
