A week has gone by and I can still hardly believe that Mark is gone. I've been trying to wrap my mind around it for days. He was a kind, accessible and loving individual with a strong lust for life. To all friends and family: please keep the stories, condolences and memories coming. They will give the Woodruff family and his extended family strength. Aunt Mike and Uncle Susan, please know how dearly he was loved. Grandma said it about my dad, but I believe it about Mark, too: he was a prince among men.

Mike, Susan, Michelle and Marcus,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Mark was an awesome guy. Our ages and location prevented us from being close, but during Firefighter I&II Mark was one of the favorites. We called him "junior" because of his status at Lawton Fire when he started the fire academy. Mark always had something funny to say or a joke to tell. He was a really great person.
God promised us in his Word that he would not give us more burden than we can bear. I know this is the hardest thing you have ever had to deal with, but God is with you, as well as the thoughts and prayers of many people. If God is with us, who can be against us? He will help you through this.
If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. Again, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
God Bless You,
Jim Blacker

Woody, truly one of a kind. He lived life 100%. He could brighten the worst day with nothing more than his presence. A truly exceptional man right down to the core. He lived life like it was ment to be lived, and anyone who was around him has a story that will make you laught. He gave to us all in so many ways and the ultimate sacrifice by becoming a United States Marine. Mike, Susan, and Michelle, I pray for all of you and you have every right to be extremely proud. Mark will always be remembered. Eric Dudek

I just want to tell you that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Woody was an awesome person! You couldn't ask for a more fun, honest, caring, and faithful friend. If there's one thing that he did, it was touch so many people's lives. I am so glad that he was a part of my life and that I have such great memories of him that I will always remember. Only time will heal our hearts and faith to keep us going. He is in a much better place now watching over us.
I give you all the love and strength to get through this rough time.
Love,
Michelle Cornish

(((Mike, Susan, and Michelle))) My heart is so broken for you. We loved Mark, he was such a loving, caring guy. I will never understand why our boys. I guess God only takes the best. Ryan has many memory's of Mark and him growing up together. He said Mom, he was one of the nicest kids I ever met. He told me a story about the time when he and Mark would go in the woods and shoot tiny toy soldiers from a long ways away with their bb guns. They had many fun times together swimming, fishing, just hanging out. My parents, next store loved your two children like their own Grandchildren. My Dad would always talk about Mark and Michele. How he would pick them up from the bus when it snowed. And my Mom feeding Marks dog treats all the time. Your beautiful son and brother will forever be remembered and always in our hearts. Much Love, Connie

We didn’t know your son but we know what it means to be a United States Marine. It takes a young man with extraordinary courage, commitment, and determination. To receive the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor is among the highest of honors. Freedom is not free and we are thankful for your son putting his life on the line for all of us. Our son is a Marine, at Camp Lejeune, and is deploying to Iraq in August. We will ask him if he new Mark. May the wonderful memories of your son live on in your hearts forever.
