STERMER, Arthur R.
Lawton
Passed away Friday, July 22, 2005 at LakeView Community Hospital, Paw Paw after a long struggle with cancer. Art was born November 11, 1928 in Chicago, IL the son of the late Isadore and Lillian (Wysocke) Stermer. Art was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed by National Water Lift Co. in Kalamazoo, Eaton Mfg. of Lawton then retired from GTE in 1991. Art was an agricultural farmer most of his life and enjoyed hunting, farm auctions, breakfast at Tea Pot Dome and loved animals. He was very patriotic and was a member of the American Legion, PawPaw. He was also a member of St. Mary’s Church, Paw Paw and the Fraternal Order of Police. On June 28, 1958 in Paw Paw Arthur was united in marriage to the former Barbara M. Geiger who survives. Also surviving are daughter, Ruth Waters of Lawton; 5 sons, Mark (Yvonne) Stermer of Lawton, Paul (Amy Levine) Stermer of Kalamazoo, John (Debora) Stermer of Paw Paw, Jim Stermer of Paw Paw, Tom (Pam) Stermer of Lawton; 10 grandchildren, Tara, Mike, Allie, Kaitie, Bret, Ann, Dan, Scott, Josh, Ben; several great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lorraine Bernacki of Chicago, Marge (Ray) Reid of Decatur; brother in law, Jim Geiger of Lansing, 2 nieces, Paula Bernacki, Mary Lou (Mark) Lammers. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the ADAMS Funeral Home, Paw Paw where a vigil service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Fr. Robert F. Creagan, celebrant. Cremation to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Tom, Pam, Paul, Mrs. Stermer...I am very sorry for your loss. I know that God has a strong hand to work on Heaven's Farm. I always felt good knowing that Art from Lawton was listening to WKZO. Our thoughts and prayers are with Art and his large, tremendous family.
