Passed away Thursday evening, August 4, 2005 at the home of her daughter. Joanne was born April 12, 1924 in Indianapolis, IN the daughter of Leo J. and Cora O. (Van Heuton) Hellmer. She was an operator for Bell Telephone in Indianapolis, IN. Surviving are a daughter, C. Barbara Hofer-Scanlan of Paw Paw; grandchildren, Jeffrey Hofer of Carmel, IN; Christina Hofer of Paw Paw, and John Pierce of Clearwater, FL; great grandchildren, Joshua Hauck of Indianapolis, Jessikha Hauck of Paw Paw, Ashley Hofer, Clancy And Nicholas Hofer all of Carmel, IN; 4 sisters, Elizabeth Lawless and Marsha Baker and Geraldine Shell all of Indianapolis, Cleora Hilton of New Orleans, LA; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Joseph, Paul and David Hellmer.
Family will receive friends Tuesday 11 am to 1:00 pm at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Paw Paw with Rev. Fr. Robert F. Creagan celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
