Marge & Dale Robbins were special folks. My parents were former Eagle Lake residents who moved to Florida after the '56 tornado, but had a summer cottage on Scott Lake. When my father died in July of 1982, some good friends from Florida decided at the last minute to come up here for the funeral--driving non-stop. Because of the Bloomingdale address, they assumed the funeral would be in Bloomingdale. They arrived barely an hour before the time of the service, only to find that they were in the wrong place. Dale & Marge not only phoned Calvins to confirm that was the place, but took our friends into their home to freshen up. They arrived in Hartford just in time, and needless to say, were astounded by this unselfish act of kindness. Having attended a number of family funerals at the Bloomingdale funeral home, Mother, however, was not at all surprised by their caring helpfulness, nor was our funeral director, Dale Leonard, who took the call from Robbins. Another fond memory of small town living. Arlene Ward, Hartford
