October 8, 2005. Corinne Caroline Venckus was born on May 12, 1908 in Chicago, IL the daughter of the late Jon and Kathryn Mrowiec. Corinne married Felix Venckus who preceded her in death in September 1975. Also preceding her in death were three brothers and one sister. Corinne and Felix had three children; Felicia Zolp of Paw Paw, Ronald (Jackie) Venckus of Paradise Valley, AZ and Audrey (Jerry) Abnet of Portage all of whom survive. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; Kathryn (Joseph) Gedvilas of Oak Park, IL, William (Terri) Zolp, Charles (Kathy) Zolp, Philip (Shelly) Zolp, Patricia (Steve) Hill all of Paw Paw, Ronald (Jude) Venckus of Rio Rico, AZ, Paul Venckus of Rio Rico, AZ, Vivian Venckus of Tucson, AZ and Charles (Teri) Abnet of Mattawan, MI. Also surviving are twenty great grandchildren; Adrienne, Brian, Jason and Michael Gedvilas of Oak Park, IL; Andrew, Caitlyn and Meghan Zolp; Jonathan, David and Jessica Zolp; Corinne, Emily, Laura and Julia Hill; Nicholas, Marie and Carressa Zolp all of Paw Paw; Ashton Abnet of Mattawan, Jillianne Venckus and John Paul Venckus of Rio Rico, AZ. Corinne had a busy and productive life managing the family farm in Paw Paw while Felix worked in Chicago. Corinne also worked in WW II defense manufacturing at Eaton Corporation grinding valves for the B-17, earning the title of "Rosie the Riveter", honoring those women who took the place of men in the factories producing war materials. Later she worked at Dillon's Drug Store in Paw Paw until her retirement. Corinne was an active member of the St. Mary's of Paw Paw Altar Society and helped institute the hot lunch program for St. Mary's School. She also served as a Grey Lady at Lakeview Hospital, Paw Paw. Moving to Arizona, Corinne was an active member of St. Cyril's Parish in Tucson, AZ and Mother Ann Seaton's Parish of Sun City, AZ. Corinne was also an active member of St. Mary Parish in Paw Paw and St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Portage, MI. Corinne was a gourmet cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends may meet with the family on Monday October 10, 2005 from 6-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday October 11, 2005 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Paw Paw with Rev. Fr. Kevin Covert and Rev. Fr. Robert F. Creagan celebrants. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Paw Paw.
