Rute and Family,
My mother told me tonight about the death of Miss Lapsa. I have fond memories of visiting her and her sister in Memphis in their apartment with my grandmother, Irma Duks. They made an impression on me because their accents were as strong as Grandmother's and they wore their hair up in a tight bun. I also remember a visit Miss Lapsa made to the house after she had moved to Michigan. She was describing planting the as-par-a'-gus with great enthusiasm. We could tell that she had enjoyed doing it, and was patiently waiting for, I believe, 7 years for it to mature. I couldn't believe that it would take anything that long to grow!
Please accept my heart-felt sorrow at the passing of a remarkable woman. I have never known anyone to live as long as she did. God had a plan for her longevity.
Sincerely,
Sylvia (Via) Wilson
