Age: 79
JANECKE, Robert J.
Lawton
God called His servant home, after his work here on earth was done. Robert J. Janecke, Sr. went to heaven on Monday morning, March 27, 2006 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan, surrounded by family who loved him dearly. Robert was born on Sept. 18, 1926 in Chicago, IL. the son of the late John and Pauline (Benett) Janecke. Bob was a veteran of WW II serving in the Army Air Force. For over 30 yrs. he worked for the Eaton Corporation as General Plant manager in both Michigan and Tennessee. If greatness could be defined in a man's life by the way he affected the lives around him, then it can be said that Robert Janecke was a great man. He was intelligent, industrious, generous, and compassionate. He loved God, his family and his country. He lived out his faith in front of all who knew him. To us, the saying "Work is love made visible" has clear meaning and was reflected in his everyday life. On August 31, 1947 in Chicago, IL, Bob was united in marriage to Loretta M. Kozlowski, who survives. Also surviving are his 13 children, Carylle (Frank) Springer of Portage, MI, Robert (Carole) Janecke of Houston, TX, Pat Karsen of Lawton, MI, Mike (Sherida) Janecke of Mattawan, MI, Marge (Bob) Goodman of Murfreesboro, TN, Paula (Mike) Smith of Kalamazoo, MI, Rose (John) Harrison of Murfreesboro, TN, Gina (Chris) Fonzi of Atlanta, GA, Andy (Kitty) Janecke of Milton, TN, Kathy (Dave) Brown of Lawton, MI, Matt (Dawn) Janecke of Lawton, MI, Dan (Nan) Janecke of Kalamazoo, MI, and Joey Janecke of Lawton, MI; nearly 50 grandchildren and great grandchildren, a brother, Arthur Janecke of Chicago, IL and many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his two sisters, Adelyn Hampstead and Anne Marie Budak, and his grandson, Lukas Janecke. Family will receive friends Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home in Paw Paw, MI, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at St. John Bosco Church, Mattawan with Rev. Fr. Massimiliano Camporese celebrant. Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society, c/o St. John Bosco Church, 23830 Front Avenue, Mattawan, MI 49071, (who serve those in need locally).

I worked for Mr. Janecke at the Eaton plant in Shelbyville, TN for several years until he left us. We always missed him--he was a great manager and a great person. He loved his family dearly and I will never forget him talking about putting in the pay phone for the children. That was the most amazing thing I had ever heard. My sincerest condolences go out to the family of a wonderful man whose presence will be sorely missed. God Bless you all.

4/8/06 We just learned of the passing of Mr. Janecke. Marge and Bob are my cousins and Rose and John are our friends. We had been busy with my father in law's lung cancer surgery and emergemcy brain surgery, and somehow missed hearing the news through church and my aunt Joyce Goodman's family. Our prayers and thoughts are with the entire family. I remember Mr. Janecke as a lovely family man. Our prayers for Mrs. Janecke as she is temporially apart from her soul-mate. With much love and concern, Richard and Susan Cleveland, 1409 Broadlands Drive, Murfreesboro, TN

I was very sorry to read about Mr. Janecke's passing. I have fond childhood memories of the fun we all had on Trotwood Street. One of my favorite stories to tell about dogs, is how whenever anyone yelled, "Sheba is out!", we all went running for cover. I have often thought of your family over the years, and have wondered how everyone is doing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very difficult time. God Bless.

Some people you just plane enjoy knowing and being with them. And you have a deep sense, that you and the world are better off because of their presence. For me, Bob Janecke was such a man. He enjoyed being alive, being who he was and being where he was. He was a great reservoir of "common sense". He took tremendous delight in "his Lori" and "his children". He saw each of them as VERY SPECIAL. He viewed life as total gift. He had the unusual talent of being able to exists in the present moment of life. He focused upon the positive side of people and events. Bob will be missed. But, in reality, he lives on though his sons, daughters and grandchildren, And for that, we can be most greatful.

I wanted to share with all of you my feelings and thoughts at the passing of "Mr. J" (He sure hated me calling him Mr. Janecke). His legacy is visible everyday in the family that now mourns his loss and celebrates the life he led. While I only knew him for five years, the respect I had for him cannot be done justice in words alone. He was the patriarch of the most remarkable family I have ever known. His ready smile, his kind words, his welcoming nature were always things I looked forward to as I was brought into his home for many holidays and special occassions. He was as special a man and person as I have ever had the honor of knowing. While I know everyone will feel the loss of him in many ways count me as one more life he touched. My thoughts are with all of you at this difficult time...Frank
