Passed away November 20, 2005 in Lake Placid, Florida after a lengthy illness. Marvin was born September 14, 1930 in South Haven, Michigan and was the son of Clyde and Louise (Bailey) Austin. Marvin was a graduate of Lawton High School class of 1948. Marvin with his mother Louise and uncle, Maurice Bailey built and operated the Gold Medal Dairy in Lawton and then was the manager for the Maple City Dairy, Paw Paw, before being employed as an apprentice at the Hawley Funeral Home/Hawley Furniture Store, Paw Paw. He then managed his own store (Gambles) in Portage. He then owned and operated his own trucking business and moved to Toledo, Ohio and worked for Floyd and Paul Van Gunten Family Trucking Business, then retired from the Flame Trucking Business in St. Joseph, Michigan. He loved fishing, driving stock cars, and playing golf. Surviving are a dear friend and companion, Gloria DeGraaf of Lawton, four children, Diane O’Connor of Toledo, Ohio, Deborah Austin of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Michael (Samantha) Morrison of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Tamara (Tom) Tucker of Watervliet, Michigan, five grandchildren, Josh and Matthew Timmermans, Kristi Wilson, Jessie and Matthew Morrison, two great grandchildren Emily and Drew Wilson, sister, Marilyn Austin of Corona, CA; three half sister and five half brothers. He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Austin and a sister, Dorothea Mellinger. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 22nd, 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Paw Paw with Rev. Ron Packer Officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Bloomingdale. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Kitchen remodeling fund.
