Of Paw Paw
Passed away Monday, August 7, 2006 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. Dorothy (Gardner) Tellam was born November 8, 1910 in Vandalia, MI, the daughter of the late John and Martha (Irwin) Gardner. In 1918 her family moved to a farm east of Lawton, MI. She graduated from Lawton High School in 1928. She then attended the South Bend Business College, graduating in 1929. She was married to Earl John Tellam on March 1, 1930; he preceded her in death February 13, 1985. They resided on Almena Road in Paw Paw their entire married life. Dorothy was employed in the office of Dr.Arthur Steele for many years She was a member of the Paw Paw – Lawton Chapter #257 Order of Eastern Star. Among her hobbies, she loved to play bingo and cards at Miller Court and she baked the best apple pie. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Jean (Herb) Anderson of South Bend, IN; her son William (Shirley) Tellam of Lakeland, FL; two grandsons, William H. (Donna) Tellam Jr. of O’Fallon, MO and Charles C. (Nena) Tellam of Brownsville, TX; two granddaughters, Donna J. (Walt) Krol and Barbara Ann (Richard) Macias of South Bend, IN; six great-grandchildren, Brian (Vickie) Krol, Jason Krol, Amanda and Marissa Macias all of South Bend, IN; and Daniella and Monica Tellam of Brownsville, TX; two step-grandchildren, Scott Stuut of Kalamazoo, MI and Jenny Burke of O’Fallon, MO; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Genevieve Gardner; and her brother, Creston Gardner. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw. Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on August 11, 2006 at the funeral chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of choice.
