Passed away Monday evening, Sept. 25, 2006 at his home. David was born May 7, 1951 in Schoolcraft the son of the late Claude T. and Debra (Hackett) Schippers. David was a 1969 graduate of Schoolcraft High School and was a pipe fitter for Allied Mechanical Services in Kalamazoo. David was a life member of the National Rifle Association, attended many gun and knife shows, loved hunting, fishing and trapping. His hobby was astronomy and was a member of the Astrological Society of Kalamazoo. He enjoyed motor cycles and hot rods. David lived in Lawton with his loving companion, Charlene M. Treadway. Also surviving are a son, Eric William Schippers of Three Rivers; daughter, Belinda (James) Zuidema of Paw Paw; 8 grandchildren, Jeb Hack, Michael R. and Brittany Leigh Myers, Brittanie Lee, Brandi, Brianna, Bethany and Cole Zuidema; 3 sisters, Susan Smith, Nancy Kniffle, and Lorraine Dimmick all of Schoolcraft; several nieces and nephews; He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Marie Schippers in 1974 and a brother Donald Schippers in 2006. Family will receive friends Thursday, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where funeral services will be held Friday, 11 a.m. with Rev. Tim Gunderson officiating. Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Van Buren County.
