I didn't have many chances to see my biological grandfather, but I did get to meet him a couple of times. I wanted to get to know him better, and was planning on seeing him this spring when I came back to Michigan. Now I will not get to see him again, and my younger siblings have missed out completely. I do have a few memories with him that will last the rest of my life. I only wish I could have made more with him. To those of you who knew him well, you are very lucky, and I hope that you are doing well. In loving memory ET3 Rusty F Russell Jr. USN-USS Wasp LHD-1

My prayers go out to the family. I can remember when you lived just down the road from us when you lived in Mattawan. I can remember spending time down there. Linda and I were in the same class in school. My mother and worked in the school kitchen at Mattawan with Arlene. I feel very lucky to have known Rus and his family.

With deep and heart felt feelings we would like to say that we are going to miss Dad Weston as Don and I began calling him when we began camping and horse riding with his family. One of the things that always will stick in are minds were the cute remarks follow with a smile. We use to say to him If we didn't know better we would think you didn't like us. He would say back, you would know if I didn't like ya. I only pick on people I like. He was a special person we kinda lost contact after the arena close. Were we use to go every Sunday to Team Pen. Don and I would pull up beside them with are rig and he would help us unload we were new to horses and he new it. When he found out that I work for UKC he would ask me about some of the people he knew from the pass when he use too coon hunt some names I would remember and some names I wouldn't. The one thing we will always was amaze that for his age (not say he was old he was young at heart) he could ride a horse and that horse better listen. There were three generation of riders that would team pen every Sunday, His son and grandson and Dad Weston. Mom Weston would be there cheering them on and opening and closing the gate to let riders in and out. He would always give us little tips here and there. We got to know his family. They would be introduce to us as they would come and ride or watch. When we would go camping on the holiday weekends he would always make sure that we were going and make sure that we had a spot. I can honestly say that we love riding through the woods his family rode like we like to ride slow and easy. Enjoying life at its fullest. It is sad to say but after The arena close we lost track. Once and a while they would stop by and visited for a few minutes to see what we was up too. There are so many memories that he will leave with us and he will always be remember in hearts the smile and the stories. We are lucky to have known such a great person and he will never be forgotten. Thank you Lord for giving us the time too get know such a person and having us be part of there lives. With thoughts and love, Don and Denise Wilson
