NIEMANN, John E.

Passed away Friday evening, November 24, 2006 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. John was born November 17, 1932 in Chicago, IL the son of the late John W. and Hattie (Novak) Niemann. John served in the U.S Air Force during the Korean War. He was a Past Commander of the American Legion, McGowan-Johnson Post # 68, Paw Paw and a member of Post # 68, Past Commanders Club. He was also a member of the Lawrence Lions Club. On Sept. 9, 1972 in Chicago Ridge, IL John was united in marriage to Margaret “Peg” Polson who survives. Also surviving are 6 children, Mark Niemann and Mary Beth Buffington of CA, John (Brenda) Niemann and Linda (Marty) Dobbs of GA, Sherry Evitts and David S. Niemann both of MN; 4 step-children, Diane (Michael) Bauer, Margaret Pasinski, Georgia (Tom) Tomczak and Dale (Janet) Polson all of IL; 28 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Witkowski and a brother, Raymond Niemann both of IL; 2 nieces. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Monday, 2 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 115 North Niles Street, Paw Paw with Rev. Tim Gunderson officiating. Interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion. Arrangements are by the Adams Funeral Home Paw Paw.

Mary Beth, It's been a long time since our paths have crossed but I still have many fond memories of you & my prayers and condolences go out to your family at this difficult time in your life....I know what it's like to lose a Father.....God Bless....
