MILLER, James A.
Paw Paw
Passed away Sunday afternoon, August 19, 2007 at the USC Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. Jim was born October 22, 1928 in Richmond, IN the son of Eugene and Alice (Hoke) Miller Sr. Jim was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Force at the end of World War II. He was employed by Paw Paw Township for 40 years as sexton of the township cemeteries retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Paw Paw, and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 3798 and the Past Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree Assembly # 522, Paw Paw. He was an active member of the American Legion, McGowan-Johnson Post # 68, Paw Paw and coached the legion baseball teams for several years and a basketball coach at St. Mary’s for 20 years, and loved golfing and hunting. Jim and Clarace have spent 6 months every year in Wellton, AZ since their retirement. On June 9, 1951 in Paw Paw at St. Mary’s Church Jim was united in marriage to the former Clarace A. Andre who survives. Also surviving are 5 sons, Nick (Karen) Miller of Mattawan, Art (Karen) Miller of Los Angeles, Howard (Kathy) Miller of Tulsa, OK, Matt (Ann) Miller of Paw Paw and Clarence (Sally) Miller of Paw Paw; grandchildren, Jim and John Miller, Lynn (Keith) Berhens, Drew and Luke Miller, Jackie and Ryan Miller; great granddaughter, Lilianna Berhens; 4 brothers., Paul, David, Anthony and Richard; 3 sisters, Caroline Wiley, Ruth Ann Schmitt and Joanita Flory; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Charles, Howard, Harry and Eugene Jr.; 2 sisters, Marjorie Fouts and Florence O’Dell. Family will receive friends Friday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral home Paw Paw where a K of C Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Paw Paw with Rev. Fr. David Meconi, S.J. and Rev. Fr. Robert F. Creagan concelebrants. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Paw Paw with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne’s Chapel.

Clarice, So sorry to hear of your loss. Time gets away from us, but we still care, no matter how far away we are.
God does things in his time and we wonder why, but we know it will be ok, even if it isn't alright at the present. We still have wonderful memories that time can't erase. Those smiling eyes will always be there.

Glad you posted this picture because Jims smile is what I will remember most accompanied by his laugh. Memories are so special not just today but each day. Keep them with you and they will help you to smile as he did. You are all on my mind and in my heart and prayers. Sue

Grandpa you will forever remain in my heart. I'm sorry I didnt express to you more often how much you meant to me. I trust that you knew. You will always be my hero for your strength and faith.
