SOMMERFELT, Evelyn R.

Passed away Sunday afternoon, Sept. 2, 2007 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. Evelyn was born June 23, 1931 in DesPlaines, IL the daughter of the late George and Pearl (Cousins) Peck. She was a member of the Valley View Bible Church and loved sewing clothes for her grandchildren, knitting, quilting and watching the classic movies. She was a very social person and considered everyone as a friend. On September 16, 1948 in Hazelton, Iowa Evelyn was united in marriage to Elmer L. Sommerfelt who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, Dale (Cathy) Sommerfelt of Paw Paw and Randy (Mimi) Sommerfelt of Waco, TX; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Sommerfelt of Portage, MI, Sarah (Scott) Overholt of Kalamazoo, Angela (Jeff) Gasper of Gobles, MI and Randy Lee Sommerfelt of Waco, TX; 3 great grandchildren, Troy and Katelyn Gasper and Madelyn Overholt; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Janee, her parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. with Rev. William Theaker officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Valley View Bible Church, Kalamazoo or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Michigan.
