Lawton
Olive passed away Friday afternoon, February 15, 2008 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born September 20, 1921 in Beamsville, Ontario the daughter of late Fred and Emily (Scallen) McEwan. Olive and he husband Stew moved to the Paw Paw/Lawton area in 1961 and eventually together they owned and operated a fruit farm, Diversity Farms in Paw Paw for many years. She was a member of the W.S.A.M., the Lakeview Hospital Auxiliary, loved playing bridge, gardening, knitting and was a wonderful and loving grandmother. On September 16, 1950 in Beamsville, Ontario, Olive was united in marriage to Walter Stew Carpenter who preceded her in death on January 18, 2006. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Marjo Shields; 3 brothers, Ross, Douglas and Hugh McEwan. Surviving are a son, Kevin (Marsha) Carpenter of Destin, FL; 3 daughters, Gayle (Bradley) Case of Waterford, MI, Holly (Timothy) Strong of Paw Paw and Cindy Evans of Lawton; grandchildren, Christopher, Leah, Trevor, Brandon, Shelby, Aaron and Ainsley; 3 sisters, Jean Potter, Millie Rose and Marguerite Schram all of Ontario; several nieces, nephews and many friends. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 22nd at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or West Michigan Cancer Center.

We saw the notice in the newspaper tonight with great sorrow. Our though are with you tonight. We hope to come to the memorial service weather permitting. Marie has to walk with a walker so her travel is limited to clear sidewalks. We will be thinking of you all. Marie and Bob Earl

We have known them quit a few years. When ever I made bread I would see they got a loaf, they enjoyed it so. She will be greatly missed. Our condolences to the family.

Mom, words can't describe the lost feeling that I have today. You are our rock, our strength, and our hearts. Moving forward without you is a challenge, but you instilled that strentgh into all of us and we will continue to make you proud as you and Dad watch over us. I love you Mom and so do Trevor and Shelby.

Stew, Kevin, Gayle, Holly, Cindy and families: I am so very saddened to see that Pete passed away last week. I have wonderful memories of your entire family throughout the years that we lived on the farm. I think often of each of you. Take care and know that time heals.
