Frances M. HarrisonAge: 94

HARRISON, Frances M.

Friendship Village, Kalamazoo

Formerly of Paw Paw

Fran passed away Wednesday morning, March 12, 2008 at Friendship Village Health Center in Kalamazoo. She was born February 9, 1914 in Detroit to Frank and Velma Downs and spent most of her adult life in Paw Paw until her move to Friendship Village in Kalamazoo in 1997. Frances married Burton Harrison on Dec. 3, 1938 and preceded her in death in 1984. Frances and Burton spent many years enjoying their home in Florida as well as being at their Lake Cora cottage. She enjoyed her church, volunteer work in her Paw Paw community, traveling, golfing, and especially spending time with her family. Frances is survived by her two daughters, Ann Wenz and her husband Fred of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Paula Renker of Midland; grandsons, Christopher Renker and his wife Terry of Grand Rapids, Corey Renker and his wife Sherry of Battle Creek; three great grandchildren, Griffin, Delaney and Xander; sister-in-law, Jenny Downs; several nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Douglas Downs and brothers-in-law, Jack (Ruth) Harrison and Robert (Jackie) Harrison. Frances lived well, laughed often and loved much. She exemplified that very admirable saying. Her appreciation for the little things and her positive spirit were true gifts and a wonderful legacy for her family. Cremation has already taken place. A family memorial service celebrating her life will take place at a later date. The family wishes that those, who may contemplate a memorial for Frances are encouraged to consider the charity or cause most important to the donor. Arrangements are by the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.

To Ann & Paula: We cherish our memories of happy days spent with Burt & Fran. Golf, dinner and an evening of fellowship were always best when shared with them. They remain in our hearts. Don & Nina Mollhagen

Dear Paula and Ann: Your Mother was a lovely lady and I remember her laugh especially. You were blessed to have her presence for so many years. I hope good memories will warm your hearts and help you move on with life.

Dear Frances Harrison Family, I knew your mom from friendship village. My mother is a resident there. Whenever I would come into the health center, your mom would often be setting in her chair wearing a welcoming smile. We would speak often briefly, but her message would generally include something re. her family. She was a lovely lady, with a wonderfully special, warm smile. I just heard of her passing, and needed to let you know what a caring person I thought her to be. Jeri Woodworth
