Paw Paw

Bill passed away Sunday afternoon, May 25, 2008 at the home of his son. He was born May 24, 1933 in Lawton, MI the son of the late Roy and Agnes (Morrisey) Burmester. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed by the Village of Paw Paw in the water Department until his retirement in September of 1988. He was a member of the American Legion McGowan-Johnson Post # 68, Paw Paw, and a 23 year active member of the Paw Paw Volunteer Fire Department. On Nov. 28, 1959 in Sumner, Iowa Bill was united in marriage to Madonna M. Meissen who survives. Also surviving are a son, William P. (Catherine) Burmester of Paw Paw; 4 daughters, Elizabeth (Jimmie) Blacker of Lawrence, MI, Mary (Pat) Barnhart of Kalamazoo, Barb Burmester of Paw Paw and Donna (Ricky) McCartney of Gobles; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Kathrine Jacobson of Sterling Heights, MI; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Bush. There will be no services as cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends Saturday, May 31, beginning at 3 p.m. at the home of his son, Patrick on 42540 56th Avenue, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan. Arrangements are by the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.

Madonna, I was so sorry to here read that Bill on. He struggled for such a long time and you struggled right with him. I think of our talks when you would come in to the shopping center and how concerced and sad you would be for him. Take care of yourself and remember he is in a better place with god now. Its time to take care of yourself now, my prayers and thoughts are with you and the family.

I'M SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. BILL WAS A GOOD FRIEND I REMEMBER WHEN I WAS A YOUNG FIREMAN BILL TOOK ME UNDER HIS WING AND HELPED ME FEEL LIKE A PART OF THE FIRE DEPT. IT WAS A PLEASURE WORKING WITH HIM ON THE FIRE DEPT. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE "BREWMASTER"
