BABCOCK, Andrew J., Sr. Andy

Of Lawton

Andrew passed away Sunday, August 24 at his home in the presence of his family. He was born September 28, 1927 in Kalamazoo, the son of Charles and Nettie (Hunter) Babcock. Andy worked in shipping and receiving at Stryker Medical for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, fishing and camping, was a member and treasurer of Bethel Apostolic Church in Vicksburg for many years. In recent years he became a member of Full Gospel Apostolic Church in Paw Paw, where he was active in his home friendship group. Most of all, Andy loved his family and had a wonderful relationship with each of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On January 30, 1960 in Kalamazoo, Andrew was united in marriage to the former Margaret Geresy, who survives. Also surviving are 4 daughters: Andriece (Chris) Patten of Lawton, Viola Ellison of Decatur, Sally Babcock of Paw Paw, and Nancy Babcock (Jason Sebastian) of Springport, MI; one son, Andy (Julie) Babcock of Decatur; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 brothers; 4 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters.

Family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Full Gospel Apostolic Church, 32560 56th Ave., Paw Paw, where services will be held Friday at 1 p.m., Rev. William Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Mattawan.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family, c/o Adams Funeral Home. Arrangements by Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.

One of the nicest guys I have ever known. Wish I would have known him longer. I see how everyone misses him. My condolences to all the family. God bless.
