BAUER, Maxine I.

(nee Abbott, Beach)

Of Lawton

Maxine passed away Saturday morning, January 10, 2009 at her home. She was a resident of Lawton most of her life. Maxine was born August 21, 1916 to William H. and Ilah M. (Fox) Abbott in Volinia Township, Cass County. She had six children, Florence (Ken) Welburn, Beverly Beach, Frederick (Donna) Beach, Francis Beach, Thomas (Dona) Beach and Patricia (Windle) Terry all of Lawton; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Two children, Beverly and Francis have preceded her in death as well as two husbands, Frederick E. Beach and Walter J. Bauer. She was one of six siblings, Hazen (Mildred) Abbott, Dallas (Jerri) Abbott, Eilene Roberts, Keith (Shirley) Abbott and Roberta Cooper. Hazen, Eilene and Keith have passed before her. She also has a brother-in-law, Jack Bauer and two sisters-in-law, Ida Bauer and Sister Nila Bauer who are in Illinois. A service will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw with Rev. Ron Packer officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawton Firefighters Association or Hospice of Southwest Michigan.

Sorry we did not make it to Maxines funeral. By the time we got out of the drs. office it was too late. We had lots of good time with Wally and Maxine, especially a trip we took with them up north. Our thoughts are with you. Hope you will still come out looking for mushrooms Patti.

Dear Florence and Fred--I remember your Mom as a kind, calm and compassionate person despite all the trouble Tom and I used to get into. I remember staying overnight many times at her house on Main St. I cannot attend the funeral please know my thoughts are with you. Dave Peterson

My favorite memory of Grandma Bauer would have to be watching her make apple pie from the apples we picked, she just sat and chatted and next thing you knew there was a pie! I will always cherish that memory.
