Sophie passed away Friday, January 30, 2009, at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was born March 19, 1923 in Chicago Heights, IL, the daughter of John and Mary Krochmal. On January 5, 1946 in South Bend, IN, Sophie was united in marriage to Louis Krakowski who preceded her in death in 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Robert) Wachtor of Paw Paw; 2 grandchildren, Suzanne Chernugel of Kalamazoo and Robert (Pamela) Wachtor of Muskegon; a great granddaughter, Madison Chernugel of Kalamazoo; 2 siblings, Joseph Krochmal and Joan Krochmal, both of South Bend, IN. Services celebrating Sophies life will be held at the family home in Almena Township, Saturday (2/7) at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Almena Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
