MERRILL, Paul O.
Kalamazoo
Formerly of Paw Paw
Paul went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday evening, March 17, 2009 at his home. He was born September 30, 1945 in Detroit, MI the son of the late Clifford and Esther (Coles) Merrill. He was a graduate of Paw Paw High School Class of 1963 and Grand Rapids Baptist College. Paul was employed as a purchasing supervisor for Coca-Cola North America in Paw Paw, retiring in 2006. He loved Gospel music, playing the piano and organ (by ear), teaching Sunday school, storytelling and performing magic for children. He always enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Traveling was another interest, usually in Michigan, where he loved visiting Traverse City and really just enjoyed going for rides. He attended the Lawton Evangelical Mennonite Church where he was very active. On June 20, 1970 in Paw Paw, Paul was united in marriage to Judith Ann Boston who survives. Also surviving are 3 children, Jeaneen Marie Strong of Paw Paw, Richard Paul (Lindsay) Merrill and Benjamin Robert Merrill both of Grand Rapids; 5 grandchildren, Michael and Megan Strong, Cole, Joshua, and Carter Merrill. Family will receive friends Friday 5-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw and Saturday 10 to 11 a.m. at the Lawton Evangelical Mennonite Church where services will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Roger Andrews officiating. Following the service will be a luncheon and then interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to Lawton Evangelical Mennonite Church Care Share Fund or the Sunshine Gospel Ministries.

I have not seen Paul since high school, however remember him like it was yesterday. He was a great friend and classmate, constantly trying out his new magic tricks on us. The Merrill bakery was the best around and Paul would always share their donuts with us. My deepest condolences to Paul's family - may the Lord be with you and comfort you all in this time of sorrow. I'm sure we'll all meet up again in the great hereafter.

Dear Family, I would like to express my sincere condolences. May you find comfort at this most difficult time by God's loving invitation to "throw all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you" (1Peter 5:7) You can also find comfort in the precious promise in God's word to be REUNITED, with our loved ones by means of a resurrection on a paradise earth in true peace and happiness, in the very near future(Act 24:15;Psalms 37:11,29,34) When you have a quiet moment, perhaps you can view these promises in your own Bible for added comfort. Please take care.

To the entire Merrill family,
Paul was a dedicated and wonderful man, and I know you will miss him.
I know he had a passion for everything he did, and he touched so many people's lives.
You can only carry pride in your hearts having known and being blessed by a man like that.
I pray that God will surround you with his peace and strength, and help to guide you through this time as you carry on your lives without him. Know that he is safe now and in heaven with his Lord and Savior, let the rejoicing begin as you celebrate his life. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I ws very saddened to hear about Paul's passing. He was a wonderful person who always had a smile. I only knew him at work (Coca-Cola/Minute Maid) but he was always pleasant and caring. He will be missed.

Hi Judy and Family,
I am praying for you. You will all get to know God in a new way through this valley. You will find God so faithful. I can testify He takes special care of widows! I hope to attend the funeral. Paul was a special encourager to many.
