CHIDDISTER, Ralph E.

Paw Paw

Ralph passed away Tuesday morning, March 24, 2009 at Bronson LakeView Hospital in Paw Paw. He was born June 4, 1923 in Ligonier, IN the son of the late Raleigh and Alta (Hire) Chiddister. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater and most significantly on Iwo Jima. Ralph was employed for 35 years as a drive for Hostess , Ringle Express and Chucks Wrecker Service until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Paw Paw United Methodist Church, the American Legion, McGowan-Johnson Post # 68, Paw Paw and Teamster Local #7. He was a fan of U of Michigan Basketball and an avid fan of Paw Paw High School Girls Basketball. On May 11, 1947 in Wolcottville, IN Ralph was united in marriage to Wilma Sweet who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Cindy (Nate) Meeth and Diana Chiddister both of Paw Paw; grandchildren, Scott (Jayne) and Brian Meeth and Mandy (Chris) Hewitt; 4 great grandson, and 5 great granddaughters; several nieces and nephews and his beloved k-9, P.J. He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Dale Scott Meeth and a brother, Paul. A memorial service will be held Saturday 11 a.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw with Rev. Joe Spackman officiating. A luncheon will follow the service. Interment in Fort Custer National Cemetery will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Paw Paw United Methodist Church.

I know the loss you feel as my Mom died last October. I remember your dad as a really cool guy when we use to have pajama parties at your house. I am very sorry for your loss.
