Dick passed away Friday evening, April 17, 2009 at Bronson LakeView Community Hospital, Paw Paw. He was born February 19, 1931 in Lawton the son of the late Robert and Marie (Hall) Hammel. He was employed by the Mead Corporation in Kalamazoo as a maintenance engineer for 40 years retiring in 1982. He loved antique engines and tractors and loved to participate in tractor pulls. On May 23, 1954 in Paw Paw, Dick was united in marriage to Joan T. McCann who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Mary Ellen (Michael) Vette of Lawton and Colleen (Philip) Greene of Bloomingdale; 2 sons, Doug (Immie) Hammel and David Hammel both of Lawton; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Gloria DeGraff and June McClauslin both of Lawton; several nieces and nephews. As per Dicks request there will be no visitation or services. Arrangements are by the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.

Joan: Sorry to hear of Dick's passing. May you hold tight to the many memories that fifty four years of being together brings. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers as you carry on your lives without him.
May you have pride in the things he did, and the things he accomplished, and may they bring you comfort during this most difficult time. I know you'll miss him.
