Sally E. WertSally E. Wert

of Paw Paw

Sally Wert died on May 30, 2009, at the Rose Arbor Hospice House at age 60, surrounded by her family. Sally was born on September 3, 1948 in South Bend, IN, the daughter of Uva L. Wert and LaRue H. Wert (deceased). She attended Lyle School, a one-room country school in Paw Paw and also attended Paw Paw High School, graduating in 1968. Sally was a loving, caring person, known by many in the local community. She was a remarkable woman with special gifts. Sally unconditionally loved her family and friends. She enjoyed greeting cards, holidays, flowers, animals, and Notre Dame Football. She always sent cards to her family and friends for birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays, having an extensive Christmas card list every year. During her illness Sally received over a thousand cards from individuals around the country. She loved flowers, planting tulips, daffodils, and iris around her house. Always excited for holidays, she loved having birthday parties, dressing up for Halloween, Christmas, and Notre Dame Saturdays in the fall. She also loved to ride her bicycle to downtown Paw Paw. Sally is going to be missed by many. She is survived by her mother, Uva L. Wert; 2 sisters, Shirley (Horace) Goodwin and Janice Wert; brother, Donald (Gayle) Wert; niece, Cathy Goodwin; nephew, Gary Goodwin; niece, Kelly (Randy) Block; niece, Erin McCoy; nephew, Jeff (Maegan) Wert; nephew, Eric Sherman; great nieces, Tyler Block, Tanner Block, Taegan Block; and great-nephew, Mitchell Goodwin. Friends will be received on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 6pm 8pm at Adams Funeral Home in Paw Paw where funeral services will be held Friday, June 5, 2009 at 11:00a.m. with Rev. Joe Spackman officiating. Interment will be in Wildey Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan.

To the family of Sally Wert, I would like to extend my sympathy for the loss of your daughter, and sister. I remember being at your home on Paw Paw Road and Sally was just a wee child. Sounds like she was a great gal and will be missed by many. I was in Shirley's class in school. God bless you, Barb Ellcey

To Sally`s Family, I got the priviledge to meet Sally when my sister was engaged and married to her nephew Jeff Wert. I remember at our bravo`s dinner that Sally loved the pizza. I didn`t know her well, but I sent her some cards during her illness,I also remember Maegan telling the stories of the notre dame football saturdays, a wild and fun time. I will miss Sally and our thoughts and prayers go out to the whole family on the loss of a special daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Lisa and Doug Alberda

Don, Mrs. Wert - Paul just sent this notice to me. Very sorry to hear about this. Dad had talked about Sally and how he had not seen her walking lately. I regret not being able to attend the visitation or the funeral. Don, I hope to see you at the class reunion in a couple of weeks.

Jan, I know how close you and all of your family were to each other. I am so very sorry for the loss of a wonderful sister. It is heart wrenching to go through. Sally sounds like she brought much joy to those in her life. Not many can say that about a person. Losing my only sibling 2 years ago was a shock and great loss. I do know how you must feel. Again, Jan, I am truly sorry for your loss and for all of your family members, you have my deepest sympathies.

I never got the chance to meet Sally but did know her loving, caring sister Jan. Sally could not have had more compasionate, loving care at home than with her sister and mother. I heard a lot about Sally from Jan and Sally touched many lives with her humor, optimism and love for life. She will be missed by many. My deepest sympathy to the family in their loss.
