
Kenneth Carl Williams, 90, a resident of Kerrville for 17 years, died in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 25, 2013. He was born on October 27, 1922 in Shamrock, Oklahoma to George Williams and Grace (Fenter) Williams. Kenneth served in World War II as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Force, he returned home to met and marry the love of his life, Matta (Mickey Coggins) on October 21, 1947 on the "Bride & Groom" ABC Radio Program at Chapman Park Hotel, Los Angeles, Ca. They were married for 65 1/2 years. Kenneth was a successful small town merchant, owning and operating; Tasty Cream Drive IN, Ben Franklin Variety Store and Sears Catalog Store, which he retired from. While being a merchant, he was also a community minded person. He served as president for the Lions Club, city counsel member, credit union, volunteer fireman and representative for the Salvation Army of Friona, Texas. He was a 32nd degree Mason, he also helped to build the Masonic Lodge in Cordell, OK. He would tell you the most important decision, he made in his life was when he accepted Jesus as his Savior at the First Baptist Church, Stratford in 1964.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Grace Williams; brothers, Harvey & Glenn Williams; sisters, Opal Maynard and Alma Williams; son in law Eddie Wilson.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife Matta R. Williams of Kerrville; sons, David G. Williams of Harper, Ronald R. Williams and wife Marian of Queensland, Australia; daughter, Terri M. Wilson of Amarillo, TX.; sister, Billie Kingston of Long Beach, CA; Joe Dan Wilson, Kade David Williams, Mason Gramling, Elizabeth Rose Williams, Kristen Wilson and Meagan Gramling.
Memorial services will be held 2pm, Friday, April 26, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Kerrville. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in his name to First Baptist Church of Kerrville building fund or Peterson Hospice.
Burial service will be at the Odessa Cemetery, Gotebo, OK at a later date
