Otis "Mac" McConnell, 88, of Lumberton died Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 2pm on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Woodcrest United Methodist Church in Lumberton with Pastor Rick Sitton officiating.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Saturday at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Family and friends will travel to Mac's hometown of Winnsboro, TX to Lee Cemetery for graveside services on Monday.

Mac was born on March 17, 1921 at the McConnell Farm in Winnsboro to Robert Andrew and Laura Alice McConnell.

He served in the Army and Air Force during WWII on Biak and Okinawa. Mac retired from Mobil Oil after 37 years of service.

He was active in Lions Club and Boy Scouts and served on the Lumberton School Board while building the first high school in Lumberton.

Otis is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Myrtle Lee McConnell of Lumberton, daughter Barbara Whatley of Lumberton, son Robert McConnell and wife Meredith of Denver Col.: sister Amy McConnell of Lumberton; Rex McConnell and wife Nita of Conroe; as well as five grandkids: Alexander Whatley, Audra Whatley, Robert(Bubba) McConnell, Jr, Larie Bishop, and Diana Stern and three great grandkids: Hunter Eddins, Alex Stern and Laura Whatley.
