
Earl L. Walton, 79, a lifelong resident of Lumberton, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at home with his family by his side. Earl was born February 15, 1930 to Hattie and Jesse Drew Walton, Sr. He served in the U. S. army from 1950-1952 during the Korean Conflict as a Combat Engineer. He later retired with 31 years from Mobil Oil Refinery as a Light Oil Movement supervisor.
Earl enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, spending time with family and friends, and attending Lumbertons Crestwood Baptist Church.
Earls love and memories will remain in the hearts of his wife of 25 years, Genevieve; sister, Jessie Lee and (David) Pattillo of Zavalla; brothers, J.D. and (Faye) Walton, Carroll and (June) Walton, all of Lumberton; 3 daughters, Grace and (Steve) Miklos of Silsbee, Gloria and (Bobby) Miller of Lumberton, and Donna Johnson of Beaumont; stepchildren, Kenny and (Lorrie) Duvall of Lumberton, Danny and (Kyle) Duvall of Groves, and B.J. and (Don) Gillard of Mauriceville. Earl had 3 grandchildren, Andrea Lutrick of Austin, Meredith Pulliam of Nederland, and Joey Johnson III of Beaumont; 9 step grandchildren, Kendall and Amanda Duvall of Lumberton, Steve and Shannon Gillard of Mauricevill, Trey Duvall of Nederland, Christie, Courtney and Jamie Duvall and Brian Guthrie, all of Groves. Earl also had 2 great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Hattie and Jesse Drew Walton, Sr.; brother, L.B. Walton; and stepson, Jimbo Duvall.
Pallbearers will be Earls nephews; Kenneth Pattillo, David Earl Walton, Earnest Walton, Alan Walton, Ryan Walton, Donnie Walton, Sr.; Honorary Pallbearer will be Fritz Erbelding.
The family would like to give our sincere thanks to Hospice of Texas, especially Wendy, Connie, Crystal, Clayton, Shannon, Linda, Debbie and Zachary.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Texas or the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services will 10:00 am Monday, June 20, 2009 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following at Walton Cemetery in Lumberton. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
