1921 - 2004
Mr. Hoke E. Smith, age 82, of 355 Old Ridgeway Rd., Bremen passed away Monday, May 3, 2004. Mr. Smith was born in Haralson County on November 21, 1921. He was the son of the late Mr. Clarence Coleman Smith and the late Mrs. Annie Williams Smith. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired mechanic with Associated Rubber Co.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jane Key Smith of Bremen; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. David (Wanda) Head and Mr. and Mrs. David (Joy) Denman all of Bremen; one sister, Mrs. Imogene Cole of Muscadine, AL; two brothers, Mr. Horace Smith of Tallapoosa and Mr. Don Smith of Fruithurst, AL; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 6, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. from Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Layton, Rev. Alton Stamey, and Rev. Bobby Jarrett officiating. Music will be rendered by Mr. and Mrs. Corky (Wanda) Addison and Eddie Hulsey. Interment will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Charles Goolsby, Kelvin Graham, Pete Gentry, Jimmy Key, Jimmy Pesnell, Jimmy Cook, Buddy Folsom, and Russell Gilbert. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Tha Haralson County Veterans Association was in charge of graveside military rites.
Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
