Arthur Eugene Welchel Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1938 - 2004 Mr. Arthur Eugene "Gene" Welchel, age 66, of 3885 Hwy. 27, Buchanan passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2004. Mr. Welchel was born in Polk County on January 31, 1938. He was the son of the late Mr. Allen Welchel and the late Mrs. Jewell Welchel. Mr. Welchel was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from the GEO Chemical Company. Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Pollard Welchel of Buchanan; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Thurman Brown of Bremen; one son and daughter-in-law, Micheal and Aerrica Welchel of Buchanan; one sister, Clara Ross of Palmer, TX; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Irene Welchel, and Tony and Faye Welchel all of Cedartown; grandchildren, Gene Brown, Timmy Brown, Olivia Welchel, Lauren VanElzen, Michel McMaster; great grandchildren, Kaci Brown, Kyle Brown, and Halee Brown; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Kenneth Layton. Music will be rendered by Rev. Buddy Gentry. Interment will follow in the Buchanan City Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Travis Pollard, Shawn Wertz, Steve Miller, Edward Pollard, Robert Timms, and Brad Goodman. Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
