Mrs. June Murphy Aldridge, age 72, of Tucker, Georgia passed away Saturday, October 2, 2004. Mrs. Aldridge was born in Felton, Georgia on January 21, 1932. She was the daughter of the late William Ivy and Gladys Cook. Mrs. Aldridge was a graduate of Oglethorpe University and taught several years at Rehoboth School in Dekalb County. After the death of her first husband, she started Murphy’s Antiques. She was active in the Altar Guild, UMW and the beautification of the Memorial Courtyard Garden at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, J. Bailey Murphy; sister, Janice Cook Elliott; and brother, Wayne Cook.
Survivors include her husband, Gilbreth Aldridge; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Randy Quintrell of Atlanta; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Dell Murphy of Woodstock; one sister, Betty Hewitt Taylor of Griffin; five grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, October 9, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. from the Graveside at the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery with Danny Hutcheson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Courtyard Garden of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Decatur, GA; or to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
