Ronald Scott Ryan age 63 of Somerset, Ky. formerly of Louisa, Ky. passed away Sunday May 18th at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Christine Ryan of West Liberty, Ky.

After early service as a Kentucky state representative, he moved to Louisville in 1961 and entered the life insurance business. He held management positions with serveral gerneral agencies in Louisville, and later became Senior Sales Manager in Mutual of New York's Louisville office. During this time he founded Kentuckiana Pension Administrators, Inc., a pension planning company. In 1991 he was named General Agent for Kentucky for John Hancock Life. He retired from management at John Hancock in 1997 and sold his pension company in 1998. He sucessfully trained over 100 insurance agents, financial planners, and stockbrokers in his long career as a financial services professional.

He is survived by: His wife Carrie A. Ryan; three sons, Dr. Joseph Ryan (Marybeth), and Stuart Ryan (Susan) of Louisville, Michael Ryan (Nicki) of Lexington; a daughter, Samantha Lehmann of Somerset, Ky., four grandchildren, Leah & Andrew Ryan of Louisville and Reese and Rhett Ryan of Lexington; a brother, Steven (Sam) Ryan (Joyce) of Georgetown, Ky.; and a brother-in-law, Roger Skaggs of Elizabethtown, Ky.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday May 21st at 2:00 pm at Wilson Funeral Home by Rev. Ric Frazier. Burial will follow in the Yatesville Memorial Gardens at Louisa, Ky. Friends may call after 12:00 noon on Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home.
