Wayne Akers age 66 of Printer, Ky. husband of Josephine “Tootsie” Ellen Hayes Akers, passed away Monday September 15, 2003, at McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was born September 21, 1936 at Burton, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Paul and Pricie Damron Akers of Louisa, Kentucky. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a retired coal miner of National Mines and a charter member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of McDowell.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter Rolanda Addis and her husband Larry of McDowell, Ky. One Son Ricky Akers and his wife Karen of Sitka, Ky. Six Grandchildren, Shane Akers, Crystal Akers, Jessica Akers, Jason Akers, Dustin Addis and Tera Addis. One Great Grandchild Kyle Shane Akers and one sister Wanda Isaac and her husband Jack of Louisa, Ky.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son Robert Wayne Akers and one sister Jacquline Martin.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday September 18, 2003 at 1:00 pm at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel Martin, Ky. with the Clergyman Harry Hargis officiating. Burial will follow in the Akers Cemetery at Louisa, Ky. Friends may call after 6:00 pm Tuesday and until time of services at Hall Funeral Home Martin, Ky.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home Louisa, Ky.
