GORMAN D. CARTER

1918 – 2005

GORMAN CARTER OF RUSH, KY. PASSED AWAY FRIDAY JUNE 3, 2005 AT HIS HOME. GORMAN WAS BORN MAY 28, 1918 IN LAWRENCE COUNTY KENTUCKY THE SON OF THE LATE DOCK AND TENNIE GUSSLER CARTER OF LAWRENCE COUNTY.

HE WAS A RETIRED DAIRY FARMER AND OPERATED HIS OWN BUSINESS IN TIMBER AND TRUCKING.

GORMAN SERVED HIS COUNTRY DURING WORLD WAR II IN THE U.S. ARMY VOLUNTEERING IN MARCH 1941. HE SERVED IN THE EUROPEAN THEATER MAKING 7 MAJOR BATTLES OUT OF 8. ONE BATTLE BEING AT ANZIO BEACHHEAD IN ITALY.

HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE GARRETT UNITED METHODIST CHURCH ON ROUTE 3 LAWRENCE COUNTY AND A MEMBER OF THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS.

HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS LOVING WIFE OF 55 YEARS, FRANCES WHEELER CARTER OF RUSH, KY.

A DAUGHTER AND SON-IN-LAW MELINDA AND CLAUDE QUESENBERRY ALSO OF RUSH,KY.

A SON AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW GARY AND NANCY CARTER OF CATLETTSBURG, KY.

2 SISTERS HAZEL HUGHES OF COLUMBUS, OHIO AND VIRGINIA PRIODE OF FALLSBURG, KY.

TWO WONDERFUL GRAND DAUGHTERS AMANDA CARTER AND ANDREA MAE CARTER ALSO OF CATLETTSBURG, KY.

HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A BROTHER CECIL CARTER AND A SISTER JULIA BURTON MORAN.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE CONDUCTED BY REV. FRANK WALLACE AT 11:00 AM TUESDAY AT WILSON FUNERAL HOME. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW IN THE YATESVILLE MEMORIAL GARDENS AT LOUISA, KY.

MILITARY GRAVE SIDE RITES WILL BE CONDUCTED AT THE CEMETERY.

FRIENDS MAY VISIT AFTER 3:00 PM MONDAY AT THE WILSON FUNERAL HOME.

Francis I am so very sorry about Gorman. He was such a gentle person. He will be missed so much. You and your family will be in my prayers.
