Herb Thompson of Columbus, Ohio, died Sunday June 18, 2006. He was born in Marysville, Ohio, and spent his youth in Eastern Kentucky. He is preceded in death by a beautiful lady, Nanci; mother, Nora G. Thompson; and a brother, Phillip H. Thompson. He is survived by sister, Phillis C. Moore and a brother-in-law Vincent C. Moore of Groveport, Ohio. He graduated from Blaine High School in Blaine, Ky., and attended Ohio State University and Columbus State University. He was president and CEO of Mid-Ohio Graphics Inc. and Columbus Plate & Film Inc. He was a partner in Tampa Graphics Inc. and publisher of "The Racing Report" newspaper, which reports on horse racing in the U.S. He was owner and stockholder of a number of businesses over the years, including a numer of salons. As a hobby, he taught karate at the Columbus Jewis Center and Ohio State University. He was one of the original founders of the American Karate Association and member of the Columbus Craftsmans Club, Printing Industry of America, the United States Trotting Association, Ohio Harness Horsemens Association, Ohio Thoroughbred Owners & Breeders Association, Shorin-ryu Karate Association and the American Shorin-ryu Karate Federation. He was a Honorary Kentucky Colonel and long-time owner and breeder of race horses. Graveside service and interment were held at 1:00 pm Saturday June 24th at the Yatesville Memorial Gradens, Louisa, Kentucky.
