1916 - 2007

Clyde WellmanClyde Wellman 91 of Louisa, Ky. went to be with our Lord on Friday November 23, 2007. He was born June 7, 1916 in a log cabin near Irad, Ky. to the late G. Harlan and Stella Adams Wellman.

At age 17, to help support his family, Clyde joined the 3C's During that service he made his way out West where his company helped fight fires and construct Yellowstone National Park, thus starting a life long love of the American West. After leaving the 3 C's he joined the Army, serving his country as a Medic during WWII in the Army Air Corps at Dale Mabry Field in Tallahassee and Alligator Point Florida. While serving there he met and married Dora Edith Wommack. After his discharge he moved his family to Ky. and then to Columbus, Ohio where he spent most of his working life. In 1966 Clyde married Nettie Davis who passed away in 1973. Shortly after his retirement in 1980, Clyde returned to the hills of Kentucky that he loved.

Clyde was happiest while hunting, fishing, "horse trading" guns and knives and spending time with his beloved family. Clyde was a kind, big hearted and gentle man who will be forever loved and cherished by his children Roma Jean Wellman Wonneman and her husband Jack; Vaughn Moray Wellman and his wife, Melanie; Three grandsons Robert Clayton McHugh, and his wife Evelyn; Morgan Wellman and wife Missy; and also Trey Mueller.

Two Great Granddaughters: Kaylee Wellman and Paige McHugh. In addition to his children and great children, Clyde leaves many loving friends and extended family including special nieces Mary Jean Caudill and Cathy McDowell. His sister, Scelina Wellman Young and half siblings Clifford Wellman, Martha Wellman, Nan Roberts and Frank Wellman survive Clyde. Clyde was preceded in death by half brothers and sisters: Rebecca May, Billy Wellman, Daisy Cisco May, Etta Maria Walker, and Lafayette Wellman.

Services for Mr. Wellman were 1:00 pm Monday November 26, 2007 at the Wilson Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Yatesville Memorial Gardens at Louisa, Kentucky.
