1937 - 2008
 Glenda Faye (Burleson) Edens succumbed to a spirited and gracious battle with cancer on Sunday, August 24, 2008 in Louisa, KY at the age of 71. Glenda was born at home in Minneapolis, NC, the eldest child to the parents of Ray William Burleson and Winona Evelyn (Ledford) Burleson on August 14, 1937. She grew up primarily in the coal mining communities of Dakota and Kingston, WV, and graduated from Kingston High School in 1956. She moved to Charleston, WV, where she attended business school, was employed as a bookkeeper and found her life-long partner of the next 50 years. Glenda is survived by her husband, Curtis Denver Edens Sr., with whom she eventually made her home at their Done Roamin Farm in Ballard, WV, and proudly raised her family of four children. She is also survived by three sons and one daughter: Curtis Denver Jr. and William (Billy) Thayer of Louisa, KY; Jeffrey Glen and wife, Jackie, of Ballard, WV; and Joyce Ann of Ithaca, NY. She is also survived by her loving sister, Renee Burleson, of Elizabethton, TN. She is predeceased by her parents, one sister, and two brothers. Glenda more recently attended Peterstown Missionary Baptist Church. Aside from her faith, family was pinnacle; expressing a nurturing and selfless love. To that end, she was instrumental in her grandchildrens lives as well. She is survived by nine grandchildren Curtis III, Nicole, T.J., Steven, Ryan, Tyler, Heather, Jennifer, and Zachary, as well as three great grandchildren Landon, Sawyer, Hailey. She loved life, which included card games, fishing, gardening, canning, crafts, and teaching Sunday school. She was a member of Rich Creek, VA Bridge Club. Special neighbors are Corky and Loretta Buckland and long-time friends Ted and Drema Helm of WV. Personal found angels on earth were R.N. Mary Cook of Louisa, KY and P.A. Susan Lyerey of Winston-Salem. Glenda had been touched by the many that had been instrumental in her care. She was appreciative of the support from family, friends, and medical personal. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks for every prayer, card, call, or extension of kindness, which has helped us all. The services and staff of Winston-Salem Baptist Hospital in NC and also of Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, KY has been exemplary in their care and their comfort. Special care was given at home by granddaughters Nicole and T.J.. Friends will be received at their home in Louisa at any time on Sunday, August 31. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Glendas name to either hospital or to the American Cancer Society. Curtis, Curt, Jeff, Billy and Joyce and families...
We do not need to tell you how special your mother was you already know but she was indeed very special to many others as well. I know she is rejoycing with family but I can't help but think that she has already found "Bernice and Ethel Mae".
My thoughts and prayers are with each of you but know that we will see her again.
