Garland Shortridge Jr. 61 of Highway 1 Louisa, Kentucky passed away on Friday October 10, 2008 at his home.

Garland was born May 2, 1947 at Louisa, the son of the late Garland Shortridge Sr. and Irene Vanhorn Shortridge. He was a retired employee of the Kentucky Department of Highways and served in the United States Army during Viet Nam.

Survivors include two sons Garland Shortridge III and Travis Shortridge both of Louisa, Kentucky; four sisters Dorothy Jones and Sally Golden both of Mansfield, Ohio, Peggy Queen and Mackie Fannin both of Louisa, Kentucky, a brother Bill Shortridge of Mansfield, Ohio, Three Grandchildren Tyler, Riley, and Dakota Shortridge. He was preceded in death by two sisters Kathryn Jean Hatfield and Myrtle Louise Shortridge and a brother Robert Lee Shortridge.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday October 13th at 2:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home by Rev. Gordon Crisp and Rev. Jerry Hughes. Burial will follow in the Shortridge Cemetery on Highway 3 North Louisa.

Friends may call after 5:00 pm Sunday at Wilson Funeral Home.

Military Graveside rites will be conducted by members of the W.O. Johnson American Legion Post 89 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6103.

Sorry to hear of Garlands passing, I remember when he used to work on the ft gay/louisa toll bridge when I was growing up as a child.
